It's a very, very sad day at Circle E Ranch. We lost Mystyk. She had an impaction deep in her colon which caused an inflammation of the colon and also a weakening of the walls of the intestine. The Vet said that this afternoon, her intestine moved up over her spleen which was causing her a lot of pain (something that can happen with horses). They gave her medication to reduce the size of her spleen which would hopefully cause the intestine to slip back down where it belonged but it didn't work. The only other option was surgery which I decided was too much for her with all her other problems. She also had signs of laminitis which means she would have been in pain the rest of her life so I decided to let her go. Mystyk was a very sweet horse and she'll leave a big hole in my heart. |

Our blog (a web log or sort of online diary) is maintained by chief stall mucker, poop picker-upper and all around slave to the animals,
Norma Epstein.
I write it all myself (no Pulitzer or accolades necessary) and I take all the pictures with a Minolta digital camera.
I take pictures and post to the blog whenever I find something interesting or have something interesting to say (and even sometimes when I don't).
