We've had the second coldest winter on record in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. We also had a white Christmas, the first in recorded history. We've also had a lot of rain and, as you can see, the horses have been rolling in the mud (Blondie and Leo, the Palominos) are wearing mud coats). |

It's the middle of January and the first Purple Martin scout has arrived. A scouting male comes first and checks out the available housing and then the female follows. I watched this first arrival check out every 'apartment' in the bird house and now he's sitting on the perch. Robins also showed up for the first time today. The yard was full of Robins looking for food - maybe this means an early Spring? |

Our blog (a web log or sort of online diary) is maintained by chief stall mucker, poop picker-upper and all around slave to the animals,
Norma Epstein.
I write it all myself (no Pulitzer or accolades necessary) and I take all the pictures with a Minolta digital camera.
I take pictures and post to the blog whenever I find something interesting or have something interesting to say (and even sometimes when I don't).
