January 29, 2006Finally! We got almost 2 inches of rain so we don't mind the small lake of standing rainwater. It's been so long without rain that everything is dried up but we're hoping the rye grass we planted will recover and the horses will have something to eat other than baled hay. There isn't even anything to graze in the pastures so the horses don't have anything to do. |

Remember the picture a while back of the horse standing on the stairs to the exercise arena? Well, she finally destroyed them because they just aren't designed to hold 1,000 lbs. Arnie has replaced the stairs and 2 boards on the arena and the horses are right in the middle of it. Leo is in the background chewing on one of the destroyed boards. On the next trip to the feed store, we'll have to get a mineral block - the nibbling sometimes signals a lack of something in their diet. It could be the lack of anything green to eat because of the drought. |

Here's Katy, covered in mud from rolling in it. The rain cleans them off but then they roll in the mud as soon as there is anyting that will stick to them. Katy's investigating the saw horse and saw Arnie used to repair the arena. |

This time, it's Leo investigating the saw horse. Leo is always in the middle of anything if he can get to it. |

Our blog (a web log or sort of online diary) is maintained by chief stall mucker, poop picker-upper and all around slave to the animals,
Norma Epstein.
I write it all myself (no Pulitzer or accolades necessary) and I take all the pictures with a Minolta digital camera.
I take pictures and post to the blog whenever I find something interesting or have something interesting to say (and even sometimes when I don't).
