deep in the heart of the great state of Texas

January 1, 2005

Here we are almost 4 weeks after the accident and Leo is healing perfectly. If you compare this picture to the night of the accident you won't believe your eyes. New skin is forming and filling in the void spaces. His eye is being drawn down because of the injury. The vet said not to worry; we'll check it in another 10 days and can perform a little corrective surgery to fix it. I can't believe he survived much less that he is healing so fast.

Leo has been such a good little colt through all this. Here he is with the vet tech after his treatment at Alvarado Veterinary Hospital. We are trying a new 'bandage'. It's a liquid which is sprayed into the wound and then baking powder is sprinkled on top. Leo was really hating all the bandages and had pretty much rubbed them off by morning after very careful cleaning and bandaging his wounds every night. They probably itched a lot as well. He seems much more comfortable here.

Our blog (a web log or sort of online diary) is maintained by chief stall mucker, poop picker-upper and all around slave to the animals,
Norma Epstein. I write it all myself (no Pulitzer or accolades necessary) and I take all the pictures with a Minolta digital camera.
I try to take pictures daily and update the site by 5:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time, but it usually gets done sometime later.
