July 1, 2005Still painting fence. Leo, of course, is right in the middle of it. It's still 99 degrees.

Horses are very curious animals. Here Mystyk looks like she's thinking about tasting the paint. She was chased away just after this picture was taken because she would have dumped the whole thing. |

Just about 11 am, we got a call from a local hay grower that their hay was ready and we could pick it up in the field. That's Arnie on the ground trying to untangle the tie-downs and Matt on top of the hay. (It's still 99 degrees and they really worked hard). This is really nice hay and we haven't had any rain since the beginning to the month so the cost is about to go up. Unfortunately, you can see the storm clouds in the distance. A few minutes later, we could see lightning and the clouds got really black. Half way home, a monsoon hit. It was raining so hard we couldn't see the trailer behind the truck and we saw tornado spotters along the route. We thought sure a tornado was close because along with the monsoon came big winds. No tornado (whew!) but the hay got wet. (not good, not good at all) |

We put the hay in the round pen to dry out as much as we can so the whole load won't be lost. According to the rain gauge, we got almost 2" (in about a half hour). That's what you call a gully washer! The good part is that in a matter of minutes, it went from 99 degrees to 80 degrees and stayed cool. |

Our blog (a web log or sort of online diary) is maintained by chief stall mucker, poop picker-upper and all around slave to the animals,
Norma Epstein.
I write it all myself (no Pulitzer or accolades necessary) and I take all the pictures with a Minolta digital camera.
I take pictures and post to the blog whenever I find something interesting or have something interesting to say (and even sometimes when I don't).
