March 25, 2007The horses have been chewing on the round pen all winter. We've given then supplements thinking that they were chewing the wood because they lacked a mineral or vitamin of some sort but it didn't change anything. Arnie's replacing the wood they've chewed and, as he is working on it, they're right in the middle of everything and chewing on the new wood before he's had a chance to put it up!

We decided to mix up some cayenne pepper in a sprayer hoping that if their mouth burned, they would stay away. Here's Arnie getting ready to spray the new wood while everyone watches. You can see the chewed ends of Arnie's sawhorse - they chewed it while he was working. |

They loved the cayenne pepper! He're Mystyk licking the sprayer and Leo licking the wood and the ground where it ran off the wood. I guess we'll have to find another remedy and halt all repairs until we can figure out how to make them stay away from the boards. |

Our blog (a web log or sort of online diary) is maintained by chief stall mucker, poop picker-upper and all around slave to the animals,
Norma Epstein.
I write it all myself (no Pulitzer or accolades necessary) and I take all the pictures with a Minolta digital camera.
I take pictures and post to the blog whenever I find something interesting or have something interesting to say (and even sometimes when I don't).
