Horse Mauled by Cougar!(update June 2, 2009 - the Texas Parks and Wildlife investigators have determined that it was a pack of stray dogs) This is my friend Bobbie and her horse, Bailey. Sometime during the day on May 21 while in his pasture where he lives, Bailey was attacked by a cougar. He survived the attack but is severely injured. Cougar tracks have been found and a neighbor has surveillance cameras showing a cat as large as a German Shepard in the area. Meanwhile Bailey is being doctored and loved very carefully and time will tell. Bailey has been moved to a barn close to home and will be safe until he heals. |

The areas which can be stitched have been (his right side). The rest will have to generate new skin and tissue. The tube on the right is for drainage. |

All the pink areas are claw marks from the cougar. | |

His back left leg was ripped to the bone.
The cougar hasn't been caught yet but plenty of people are looking for him. |

Our blog (a web log or sort of online diary) is maintained by chief stall mucker, poop picker-upper and all around slave to the animals,
Norma Epstein.
I write it all myself (no Pulitzer or accolades necessary) and I take all the pictures with a Minolta digital camera.
I take pictures and post to the blog whenever I find something interesting or have something interesting to say (and even sometimes when I don't).
