deep in the heart of the great state of Texas

Everyone is very curious. Mystyk, our Arabian horse wants to get close to the baby so bad she can't stand it. Thumper, our mutt keeps constant vigil at the fence and watches every move the baby makes 24/7. We think she thinks he is something to play with.

Look what showed up today. A hen with 12 chicks! She had been sitting on a dozen eggs in the fertilizer spreader and every egg hatched. Just our luck they will all be roosters! Red Tail Hawks have been hanging around all day - they must smell the fresh meat. They got one of the older chicks. That must be why these hens hatch so many eggs; they know all won't survive.
