That rooster has adopted the 12 chicks we discovered yesterday. The hen is at the top right corner of the picture and isn't protesting (they usually chase the roosters away because roosters can get aggressive with chicks). The rooster has found seeds on the ground (the chickens think wild bird seed is candy and there is a feeder just above his head) and he's clucking at the seed to tell the chicks that it is something to eat.
