Circle E Ranch Blog Page

deep in the heart of the great state of Texas

May 8, 2005

Kay and Kit are at Bedonna's Performance Horses in Snyder, Oklahoma for breeding to a nice buckskin stallion named Stars Rollickin Fire. Here they are getting checked to see where they are in their cycle.

.

Both mares have been given a shot to bring them into season in the next 2 - 5 days so they're headed out to the pasture to wait until they can meet the stallion (when mares aren't in season, they will kick and bite a stallion to keep him away - not good for the stallion)

Getting to know their new pasture mates and establishing dominance (there is always a pecking order and Katy is top mare at Circle E so she will expect the same here - it will be interesting to see if there are any other mares with the same expectations in this herd)

Our blog (a web log or sort of online diary) is maintained by chief stall mucker, poop picker-upper and all around slave to the animals,
Norma Epstein. I write it all myself (no Pulitzer or accolades necessary) and I take all the pictures with a Minolta digital camera.
I try to take pictures daily and update the site by 5:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time, but it usually gets done sometime later.
